Company features bloggers on its January cover

Company magazine is turning its January 2013 edition into ‘the super blogger issue’. In what the publishers says is a media first for a mainstream women’s magazine, the fashion title has chosen Susanna Lau (aka Susie Bubble) and Bip Ling to grace the cover.

A huge inspiration behind Company’s redesign earlier in the year was blogs – how young women communicate with each other not only in terms of what they are writing, but how this content is visually represented. The result, Company magazine as we know it today, is a magazine unlike anything else in the industry, say the publishers.

Inside the January issue, Susie Bubble and Bip Ling are joined by other fashion super bloggers including Carrie Harwood from Wish, Wish, Wish and Sandra Hagelstam from 5 Inch and Up. They share their wisdom of blogging from how it all began and how to get it right, to their opinion on the industry and their advice for young girls wanting to become the next blogger sensation.

There’s also a double-page feature entitled ‘From blog to job!’ which includes interviews with two Company staffers whose blogs got them their job at Hearst Magazines UK.

“Company has fully embraced the blogosphere and brought the two worlds of online blogging and print firmly together,” said Victoria White, Editor of Company magazine. “Not that long ago, fashion blogs weren’t taken that seriously, but now the best bloggers are stars in their own right. What better way to give our readers unique access and insight into the girls they admire most than creating this special blogger edition?

According to Hearst, the super blogger issue marks yet another innovative edition of the magazine. Just this year alone readers have been treated to the ‘Fashion Graduate Takeover’, which saw eight aspiring fashion journalists takeover the October issue and a partnership with Hollyoaks, in which the magazine was written into the storyline for a week. Real-life readers have modelled in the main fashion and beauty stories and the cover star of the August issue was chosen exclusively by the 'Company Collective' (a closed Facebook group which the Company team engages with to gain their feedback on anything from design and feature ideas to cover stars).

Company also recently launched 'Company Weekly Edit', a brand new weekly mag exclusively for the iPhone.

Victoria White, Editor of Company and Tanita Montgomery, Art Director at Company have both recently been awarded ‘Editor of the Year’ and ‘Art Director of the Year’ respectively at this year’s BSME Awards.

The January 2013 issue of Company is on sale today, 5th December.
