Lee Clayton: “This is a fantastic achievement and all down to the brilliant work from the team."

Since the channel’s launch in 2023, Daily Mail Sport says it has seen over 50 million likes and more than 730 million video views, and says there is a new, younger audience engaging with Mail-branded content.

The video-sharing platform is increasingly being used by 18 to 24-year-olds to keep up to date with current affairs, with one in 10 using TikTok as a source of news in the UK, added the publisher.

From R9 picking his best ever XI and the hit podcast It’s All Kicking Off to its Guess the Fighter Series, the publisher says millions of people across the world are enjoying Mail Sport videos covering football, rugby, F1, darts and everything in between all covered by the Mail’s team of journalists and content creators.

Mail’s global publisher of sport, Lee Clayton said: “This is a fantastic achievement and all down to the brilliant work from the team. By drawing on our talented journalists we have created entertaining content for a new audience.

“Since we launched Mail Sport on TikTok, we have grown rapidly and, with the end of the Premier League and Champions League to come, as well as the possibility of Euros glory in the summer, we expect even bigger numbers in this space.”

Mail Sport TikTok lead, Josh Hartley said: “This is a huge achievement for the team. Hitting the one million follower milestone further strengthens us as the #1 Sports newspaper on TikTok, a title we’ve achieved in just over a year through our endless innovation to deliver reactive news that resonates with our audience.”

Mail Sport social content manager, Ben Wiley said: “I am extremely proud to reach one million followers and at just how far we have come in just over a year.

"We started as two and now have a team of six working to make Mail Sport TikTok engaging, vibrant, news breaking and the #1 sports newspaper on the platform. Here’s to the next Million!”
