Speaking of the appointment, The Financial Times says Lucy Fisher is currently chief political commentator at Times Radio and will join the FT in May.
As Whitehall editor, the publisher says Fisher will cover the stories behind the headlines from Westminster, with a particular focus on the Conservative party and foreign policy. She will also be a co-host of the FT's relaunched weekly Political Fix podcast and write a monthly column.
Lucy Fisher was previously deputy political editor at The Daily Telegraph, and before that worked for The Times, where she was chief political correspondent and then defence editor.

Fisher has appeared regularly on the BBC and Sky News, including the programmes Newsnight, Westminster Hour, Today, World At One, PM and The Papers.
