Forbes promotes William Adamopoulos

Forbes Media President and CEO Mike Perlis announced this week that, effective immediately, William Adamopoulos has been promoted to CEO/Asia, Forbes Media. He will concurrently remain President and Publisher of Forbes Asia.

“Will richly deserves this title and the respect and responsibilities that come with it. During his time at Forbes, he and the talented team he leads have built an extraordinary business in the region and elevated the presence of our brand in highly visible, positive and profitable ways,” said Mike Perlis. “Forbes' performance in Asia over the last few years has been very strong. We are well positioned for continued future growth with our current Asian regional partners and opportunities in emerging economies.”

Mr Adamopoulos (pictured) joined Forbes Media in 1999 and established Forbes’ Asia headquarters in Singapore. During his 14-year tenure with the company, he successfully launched Forbes Asia magazine as well as local editions including Forbes China, Forbes Korea, Forbes India and Forbes Indonesia. The advertising share of the Forbes brand in Asia (comprised of Forbes Asia and its local editions) has grown from 1 percent in 1999 to over 21 percent in 2012, amongst international titles in Asia Pacific (Source: Kantar Media).

In addition, says Forbes Media, Mr Adamopoulos has developed and grown a highly successful and profitable conference and events business, led by the Forbes Global CEO Conference - an annual gathering of global CEOs, tycoons, entrepreneurs and thought leaders, now in its thirteenth year. Other annual events include the Forbes Asia Best Under A Billion Award Ceremony & Dinner, Forbes Asia Fabulous 50 Award Ceremony & Dinner, and Forbes Forum on Asia’s Power Business Women.

Prior to joining Forbes, Mr Adamopoulos was the Publisher and Managing Director of The Asian Wall Street Journal, and the President of Dow Jones Publishing Company (Asia). A 1984 graduate of Harvard College where he studied economics, Mr Adamopoulos has been living and working in the Asia Pacific region for the past 28 years.
