Forbes has unveiled its third annual “50 Over 50” List, highlighting dynamic female leaders and entrepreneurs who have achieved significant success later in life, often overcoming formidable odds or barriers. These women are making power plays over the age of 50, proving that success has no age limit.
Forbes says for many of the women on the list, their success and innovative thinking is not in spite of their age, but instead, a direct result of it. This year’s list, produced in partnership with Mika Brzezinski and the Know Your Value platform, divides these high-flying women into four categories: Impact, Investment, Innovation and Lifestyle.
This year’s list includes:
- Patti Labelle (Lifestyle), the 79-year-old ‘Godmother of Soul’ singer, actress, and entrepreneur who is now leveraging her music earnings to fund Patti’s Good Life, whose sweet potato pies and mac n’ cheese are now bestsellers at Walmart.
- Jamie Lee Curtis (Lifestyle), who won her first Oscar at 64 for her supporting role in Everything Everywhere All at Once.
- Peggy Whitson (Innovation), the 63-year-old astronaut who has spent 675 days working in space, more than any other woman alive.
- Nancy Pfund (Innovation) who, at 53, founded a spin out VC firm DBL Partners which closed a $600 million climate tech–focused fund in 2021.
- Catherine Coleman Flowers (Impact), environmental health and climate researcher and activist who is now using her “over 50” career to campaign for better sanitation and water infrastructure in deprived rural communities.

In celebration of this year’s list, Forbes says it will host its 2024 30/50 Summit in Abu Dhabi on International Women’s Day, honouring women from the Forbes 50 Over 50 and 30 Under 30 lists. The immersive event, co-chaired by Brzezinkski, will bring together dynamic women from both platforms for the opportunity to create cross-generational alliances to provide guidance and insights to women at every stage of their career, while also offering diverse perspectives and rich cultural immersion.
Previous speakers include Hillary Rodham Clinton, First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska, Ayesha Curry, Gloria Steinem, Catherine O’Hara, Tyra Banks, misty Copeland and more.
