Glamour to Launch in Brazil

Glamour magazine and an accompanying website will launch in Brazil in March 2012, it was announced yesterday by Jonathan Newhouse, Chairman of Condé Nast International.

Glamour is one of the world’s leading women’s magazine brands, with editions in 16 markets reaching an audience of more than 31 million. The Brazilian title, the seventeenth worldwide, will be published in by Edições Globo Condé Nast, a joint venture between Conde Nast and Globo, the largest media company in Latin America.

“Glamour has expanded around the globe and established itself as the number one circulation title in many major markets like Britain, Germany and Spain. It’s a natural step to enter the fast growing Brazilian market,” comments Jonathan Newhouse.

The Editor-in-Chief of Glamour Brazil will be Mônica Salgado (pictured) formerly Senior Editor of Vogue Brazil.

Carol Cornuau, President Condé Nast New Markets, remarks: “A market leader, Glamour will be a significant addition to the media landscape in Brazil, and further underlines our serious commitment to the beauty and fashion sectors.’

Glamour was launched in the United States in 1939, with subsequent editions in Italy (where the innovative handbag-size format was devised), Mexico, Latin America, United Kingdom, Germany, Greece, Spain, Poland, France, Russia, South Africa, Hungary, The Netherlands, Romania, and Bulgaria. The Brazilian edition of Glamour will follow the pioneering smaller size.

Condé Nast International and Edições Globo formed a joint venture in Brazil in 2010. Edições Globo Condé Nast currently publish Vogue, Casa Vogue and GQ.
