Good Housekeeping launches UK website

Good Housekeeping, the women’s lifestyle magazine published by Hearst Magazines UK, has announced the second phase of its multi-platform development - the launch of a new online home for 45+ women – www.goodhousekeeping.co.uk.

The new website, which harnesses the editorial quality, trust and authority of Good Housekeeping magazine, is among a number of new digital products to be launched by the UK’s top consumer champion, says Hearst. Earlier this year, the brand launched the Good Housekeeping Food UK app, goodhousekeepingtravel.co.uk and Good Ideas magazine developed for iPad in line with readers’ appetite for additional content online.

The new Good Housekeeping website delivers a broad mix of practical and inspiring features and expert advice across a number of core brand channels - Food, Tried & Tested, Money, Fashion & Beauty, Health, Lifestyle and News & Events.

Highlights include:

• Innovative recipe finder giving users instant access to thousands of Good Housekeeping’s most tantalising recipes

• Latest product reviews from the Good Housekeeping Institute from teapots to toasters and cleaning products to cookers

• Daily news blog offering up to the minute consumer news, reviews and events from the editorial team

• Interactive toolkit providing quick and easy access to practical problem solving tools - Click & Cook and Stain Buster

• Introduction to the Good Housekeeping Institute and insight into ‘How We Test’

Helen Young, former web editor for the wedding magazine website, youandyourwedding.co.uk, has been appointed to edit the new Good Housekeeping site. Helen, who began her digital publishing career with the launch of harpersbazaar.co.uk in 2007, brings a wealth of digital knowledge and expertise to the role. At youandyourwedding.co.uk, she was responsible for overseeing two large scale redesigns as well as a full platform migration.  At harpersbazaar.co.uk, Helen steered its fashion and travel offering, growing the channels within the industry and providing a strong digital springboard for the brand’s future development.

According to the publishers, Goodhousekeeping.co.uk has been developed in-house with a fresh, modern and easy to navigate design and large image led homepage for maximum user appeal and engagement.

The website, its channels and functionalities, provide advertisers with a vast range of creative propositions. New ad formats have been integrated into the site including high impact display sections and opportunities to sponsor the Good Housekeeping toolkit and other associated tools. It launches in association with Clinique using the power of Good Housekeeping reader recommendation to promote Even Better Eyes.

Good Housekeeping Editorial Director Lindsay Nicholson says, “I’m delighted to unveil the brand new goodhousekeeping.co.uk and also welcome Helen Young as Editor of our new site. Her digital experience at both youandyourwedding.co.uk and harpersbazaar.co.uk will be of huge value to Good Housekeeping as we continue to develop the brand across multiple platforms. We have tapped into our readers’ appetite for expert consumer information and services and have designed a website with all their needs and demands in mind.”

Publishing Director, Lifestyle Group, Judith Secombe says, “Goodhousekeeping.co.uk will revitalise and develop Good Housekeeping’s position as the foremost UK consumer champion for women, leveraging the value of the brand’s expert content in order to satisfy both reader and advertiser needs. We have a number of very exciting product developments in the pipeline and by launching a dedicated website, we not only provide our readers with tried, tested and trusted advice, but also offer our commercial partners innovative solutions to engage with their target audiences across all Good Housekeeping brand extensions.”
