GP goes daily, for the show

Haymarket’s GP newspaper expanded its media partnership with the annual conference of the UK’s Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) when it produced both a special daily edition and online video highlights for the event.

More than 1300 delegates attended the three-day meeting at Glasgow’s Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC), to hear presentations from government ministers and academics from around the world.

Each of the 12-page GP Daily editions included four pages of news from the event, plus feature pages produced in advance.

The key speakers were filmed and a range of video vox pops produced on the main issues raised in the conference sessions.

All of the print and video content was showcased in a new section of GP’s website at healthcarerepublic.com/rcgp, featuring digital editions of the GP Daily, plus dedicated blogs and resources.

The video news was promoted in a special email bulletin, featuring nine films, sent to the UK’s GPs, practice managers and primary care nurses.

Haymarket Medical’s editor-in-chief Colin Cooper said this had been GP’s third year as media partner and each time had seen a major expansion in activities.

“This was a fantastic team effort across all departments, to produce print and video of a very high standard.

”The great thing from our point of view is that the college trusts us to produce editorial on the event without them seeing it first. We’re already making plans to further expand our coverage for 2010.”

The RCGP’s online presence at healthcarerepublic.com/rcgp will continue to be developed in collaboration with the college as a marketing channel for their 2010 conference, further strengthening the partnership.
