Guardian Media Group has appointed Suzy Black as Group HR Director, replacing Carolyn Gray whose retirement was recently announced.

Suzy will be responsible for the full range of HR functions, including employee relations, training and development, change, pensions, reward, diversity and sustainability. Reporting to Andrew Miller, CEO, Guardian Media Group, Suzy will become a member of the GNM Executive Committee and take up her new role on 31 March.

Announcing the appointment, Andrew Miller said: “GMG’s transformation into a truly global media organisation will only be achieved through a strong, engaged and highly-motivated workforce. Suzy joins GMG from Lloyd’s of London where for five years she was the HR Director. She has experience of working in a variety of HR roles across a diverse range of businesses including ICI, Barclays Bank and MSN UK.

Suzy Black said: “This is an exciting time to be joining Guardian Media Group. I look forward to working with colleagues as we strive to shape GMG’s culture and put people and values at the heart of our business.”

Miller added: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Carolyn Gray for the vital role she has played over the past seven years in what has been an extraordinarily difficult period of change for our organisation and the entire media industry.”
