Guardian launches Guardian Destinations

Guardian News & Media has launched Guardian Destinations, a new hotel booking site giving readers access to some of the best independent hotels from around the world.

Guardian Destinations features handpicked properties, helping readers to find recommended accommodation when planning a holiday.

For launch, GNM has partnered with TravelBookingNetwork, an online booking platform with a diverse range of accommodation options including guesthouses, hotels, apartments and villas, as well as more unique places to stay such as historical buildings and university halls of residence.

Sofia Rehn, account manager for Guardian Destinations, said: "We wanted to widen our range of offers beyond our popular escorted tours and city break holidays to enable our readers to personalise their own getaways. By working with TravelBookingNetwork, and with other editorially-approved online hotel suppliers soon to follow, we are giving our readers access to some fantastic independent places to stay and we believe our readers will be better-informed about some of the best destinations around the world."

Charlie Ramsay, founder of TravelBookingNetwork, said: "We are proud to be the first partner to launch on Guardian Destinations and look forward to offering the best of our properties to readers of the Guardian. TravelBookingNetwork was founded in 2007 to promote small, independent hotels and bed & breakfasts, many of which lack access to mainstream marketing channels and may be struggling to stay in business. TravelBookingNetwork is helping correct this, and we're looking forward to sharing some of the best places to stay with a wider audience."

Guardian Destinations will introduce new partners and hotels in the next couple of weeks.
