Haymarket launches ThirdSectorVolunteering

The team behind Third Sector has just launched ThirdSectorVolunteering, a brand new site that brings volunteers and UK charities together by matching the right volunteers to the most exciting opportunities.

A new volunteering website with a difference, ThirdSectorVolunteering makes it easy to discover hundreds of live volunteering opportunities posted free-of-charge, with volunteers being able to search by skill or expertise to ensure that not only do they get a more rewarding experience but they provide the maximum benefit to the charity as well, says Haymarket.

ThirdSectorVolunteering’s overarching aim is to help professionals from all sectors contribute to charitable causes through the skills they have developed in their daily working life.

With around 10.6 million people in England volunteering formally at least once a month and 42% of people in employment formally volunteering once a year, volunteers are in many ways the heart beat of most charities - crucial to both their existence and their work. With the economic downturn and funding cuts there is no doubt that this is a hard time for charities. Through ThirdSectorVolunteering, Third Sector aims to support one of the sector’s most vital resources.

ThirdSectorVolunteering in brief:

• Launched in September 2012

• Over 200 vacancies already live on the site

• Charities can post volunteer opportunities free-of-charge

• Allows volunteers to search by skills and cause area

• Helps both charities and volunteers get more out of the experience

• Developed by ThirdSectorJobs - www.TSJobs.co.uk - the premier destination for recruitment opportunities within the charity sector

Commenting on the launch, Serena McMahon of Third Sector said: “So far, the new platform has been extremely well received by heads of volunteering in many charities. ThirdSectorVolunteering is committed to supporting the growing demand for skilled volunteers through Haymarket’s wide reach across many industry sectors.  From marketing and PR, through to event planning and healthcare, we feel we are in a strong position to match skilled volunteers to exciting opportunities.”
