Hearst Magazines announces expansion of HGS
Gianluca Ena: “Building bridges between our customers and our businesses around the world is what most excites me, and I am thrilled to help usher in the next phase of HGS.”

Hearst Magazines, a global lifestyle publisher, has announced an expansion of Hearst Global Solutions (HGS), a full-service solutions provider that creates multi-market advertising opportunities across the company’s portfolio of brands around the world. The changes are part of a strategic investment designed to better serve advertisers’ global needs and drive long-term growth for Hearst’s international businesses, added the publisher. The announcement was made by Hearst Magazines President Debi Chirichella.

“We are investing in this important area of our business to ensure that we are connecting our advertisers with audiences around the world and delivering the highest impact and most innovative solutions for our clients,” Chirichella said.

Jonathan Wright, president of Hearst Magazines International, said: “The investment in Hearst Global Solutions builds on our powerful portfolio of more than 260 magazine editions and 200 websites around the world, and this new structure will allow us to provide best in class support — at both a global and local level — for clients executing multi-market campaigns no matter how or from where they originate.”

Hearst says the expansion of HGS, led by global chief revenue officer Lisa Ryan Howard, includes the creation of a London-based global operational center responsible for advertising business and sales operations, creative services, ad product and innovation, and marketing. This central group will support a team of global sellers in four cross-functional hubs across North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

Howard said: “Marketers have told us they want to be able to activate with our premium brands in their priority markets around the world. They want streamlined offerings, access to our insights and scale and, as the world’s largest lifestyle publisher, Hearst is uniquely positioned to solve for this need.”

As part of this expansion, Gianluca Ena has been appointed senior vice president of Hearst Global Solutions, a new position reporting to Howard.

“Gianluca has a proven track record of creating powerful global solutions for marketers and solving for operational complexities across our international business. As one of the original creators of Hearst’s unparalleled multi-market advertising offering that combines global scale with local relevance, he has a deep, nuanced understanding of how our business can map to our advertisers’ needs,” Howard continued. “I am excited for Gianluca to step into this new role as we continue to build innovative, performant and measurable ways for our clients to connect with the hundreds of millions of people around the world who turn to our trusted brands each day.”

Ena most recently served as managing director of commercial operations of Hearst U.K. and Global, where he led client success and commercial operations at both a local and global level. Before joining Hearst, he held sales leadership roles at Twitter UK and Facebook (now Meta), where he was part of the landing team. Earlier in his career, he was at AOL.

“Hearst Global Solutions has always provided solutions that combine the local flavor of our brands with the efficiencies of a global approach. This is at the heart of what we do, and it’s why our customers choose to work with us,” Ena said. “Building bridges between our customers and our businesses around the world is what most excites me, and I am thrilled to help usher in the next phase of HGS.”

Hearst says Ena will begin his new role on July 1.
