Ian Wood appointed editor of Plymouth Herald

Ian Wood, formerly deputy editor of the Manchester Evening News, has been appointed editor of The Herald. He takes over from Bill Martin who was recently appointed editor of the Western Morning News.

Ian has a wealth of experience having worked in regional media for nearly 20 years. After starting as a reporter in Newcastle upon Tyne he worked his way up onto the newsdesk before moving to Manchester where he served as news editor for more than five years. He subsequently took a leading role in the transformation of the Manchester Evening News newsroom.

Ian said “As someone who was raised in Devon I am looking forward to joining the Herald team in Plymouth. The Herald is a title that has a great reputation in the industry and I know I am joining a team of very talented journalists.”
