Irish Daily Mirror launches new website

This week saw the launch of the Irish Daily Mirror’s brand new standalone website in the Republic of Ireland.

www.irishmirror.ie represents a significant digital development for the title which will bring new audiences to the Mirror brand in Ireland.

The website, developed and implemented by Trinity Mirror’s digital experts in conjunction with an Irish editorial team, is a fully integrated and interactive publishing website, delivering up-to-minute Irish content – news, sport and entertainment alongside syndicated UK and worldwide content from Mirror.co.uk.

The site will feature breaking news and live journalist blogs on major events plus a comprehensive entertainment section featuring up-to-date daily listings of all events from across the country from cinema listings to local community events.

In addition, the Irish Daily Mirror e-edition also launches this week, further extending the Irish Mirror’s digital presence in the local market. As the first red-top with an e-edition in the Republic of Ireland, this represents a further opportunity to grow the Mirror’s audience in the country, says Trinity Mirror.

James McNamara will lead the online development in Dublin and will report into Irish Mirror editor-in-chief, John Kierans.

John, said: “Irishmirror.ie and the launch of our Irish e-edition are exciting new offerings in the Irish market that have been in development for several months. Irish Mirror.ie brings together advanced technological features and our award winning local and national journalism resulting in a dynamic, vibrant news and entertainment portal. The site is far and beyond the most technologically advanced amongst our competitors in the Republic of Ireland and will allow us to be first with breaking news. We’re very confident it will quickly become the daily ‘go-to’ website for users in Ireland, and beyond.

“Our Irish e-edition will also give us the opportunity to present the Irish Daily Mirror in tablet version to both a home grown audience and hopefully tap into the great Irish diaspora across the world.”

Both digital launches will be supported by integrated consumer and trade marketing initiatives commencing in July.
