Johnston Press appoints new editors

Johnston Press has appointed three new editors to its South Yorkshire & Peaks publishing unit.

James Mitchinson, currently group editor based in Chesterfield, will move to group editor based in Sheffield with direct responsibility for the Sheffield Star and Telegraph as of October 7. James will continue as the editorial director for the publishing unit, sitting on the group editorial board.

Graeme Huston, currently group editor at the Doncaster Free Press, replaces James as group editor based in Chesterfield with direct responsibility for the Derbyshire Times and Matlock Mercury. Everyone who reported to James will now report to Graeme who will take up his new post on September 30.

Phil Bramley, currently assistant editor within the Derbyshire Times Group, will move to Mansfield and become the new editor of the Mansfield Chad, Ashfield and Alfreton Chad and the Hucknall Dispatch. Phil will take up his new post on September 30.

MD John Bills said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ben Green, who has done an excellent job in his capacity as acting editor of the Chad since the departure of Tracy Powell.

“I’m sure you will join me in congratulating James, Graeme and Phil on their new roles and challenges and wish them every success for the future.”

Graeme’s move means that there is now an editor vacancy in Doncaster and this will be advertised immediately.
