Johnston Press appoints new Group Newspaper Sales Director

Johnston Press plc, one of the leading community media groups in the UK and Ireland, has announced the appointment of Richard Thomson as Group Newspaper Sales Director with effect from 7 January 2013.

Richard (pictured) has over 20 years’ experience in the media industry. He joins from Newsquest Media Group Ltd where he was Group Newspaper Sales Manager, with responsibility for driving sales, best practice and supply chain efficiency. Prior to this, Richard held a number of management roles at Associated Newspapers Ltd, including Group Circulation Executive and Director of Newspaper Publishing for Loot Ltd.

He has also recently been appointed to the board of the Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC) as the Newspaper Societies representative.

Richard will oversee Johnston Press’ circulation strategy, with a focus on optimising sales and maximising the value of the print portfolio. Johnston Press recently implemented the second phase of its re-launch programme, with a further 31 paid-for titles successfully re-launched.
