Johnston Press Editorial Board created

Johnston Press has created a new Editorial Board responsible for fostering “innovation, great ideas, strategic initiatives and standardisation as well as ensuring the adoption of good or best practices across the Group”.

It comprises a chairman and deputy chairman, an editorial director from each publishing unit and a number of central role appointments.

Members are:

• Jeremy Clifford, editor-in-chief, The Star, Sheffield (chairman)

• Ian Stewart, editor, The Scotsman and Scotland on Sunday (deputy chairman)

• Colin Hume, group editor, Falkirk Herald (Scotland)

• Joy Yates, editor, Hartlepool Mail and Shields Gazette (Northeast)

• Gillian Gray, group editor, Lancashire Evening Post (Northwest)

• James Mitchinson, group editor, Derbyshire Times (North Midlands South Yorkshire)

• Mark Edwards, group editor, Peterborough Telegraph

• Gary Shipton, editor-in-chief, Sussex Newspapers North (South)

• Brian Keyes, editor, Kilkenny People (Ireland)

• Paul Napier, group editorial development director

• Tim Robinson, group editorial design director

• David Rowell, head of editorial learning & development

• Lucy Sinclair, group marketing and audience development director

Chief executive Ashley Highfield will also sit on the board.

An editorial director from Yorkshire has yet to be appointed.
