Launch: Crafty

Crafty, a new 13 issues per annum magazine from Practical Publishing International, targeted at a “younger type of crafter”, goes on sale 28 March, priced £4.99.

According to distributors COMAG: Having conducted lengthy research to find out what people really want from titles in this sector, the UK’s leading craft magazine publisher has created a new title which will capitalise on the huge growth in both the ‘make do and mend’ and make-it-yourself markets.

Aimed at people who consider themselves to be ‘crafty’ rather than ‘crafters’, Crafty will be as much about the lifestyle of craft-making as the activity itself.

Likely to be read by 20- and 30-something women rather than the traditional older age group, Crafty will inspire readers with its combination of practical hands-on project guides, as well as its articles and craft lifestyle features which reflect the modern practitioner of crafty-making.

While most titles on the market assume the reader knows everything, every issue of 100-page, perfect bound Crafty will provide full details about the skills of the more than 20 projects featured, as well as expert advice and top technique tips for people to learn.

Not patronising in tone, Crafty will introduce readers to basic ideas they may not have seen before, encouraging them to try projects which are quirky, contemporary, unique and unusual.

With contemporary crafts and stylish designs, Crafty will have projects that are practical enough that readers will be inspired to recreate them, whilst adding their own crafty twist.

Rather than a single one-size-fits-all solution, every project in Crafty will have suggested alternatives or ideas for readers to customise or repurpose without compromising on style.

As well as a wider range of techniques and modern styles than any other magazine  in the market, every issue of Crafty will have more ‘making’ projects than its rivals, including more plans for soft crafts (sewing, knitting etc.), than most existing multi-craft titles.

Every issue of Crafty will also carry a stylish craft covermount that can be used in some of the projects featured in that issue of the magazine.
