Media 10 acquires Good Homes magazine

Media 10, owner of the Ideal Home Show, has acquired Good Homes magazine from Kelsey Media.

The publishing division of privately owned, Essex-based publisher and event organiser Media 10 has successfully acquired Good Homes magazine from Kelsey Media. The popular home-interest title was launched in 1998 by BBC Worldwide, enjoying circulation peaks of 150,000 copies, with ownership transferring to Kelsey Media in 2009.

Good Homes magazine will complement Media 10’s established home-interest portfolio, which includes the Grand Designs magazine for Channel 4 and Grand Designs Live exhibition, now staged in three countries. Media 10 has gained a reputation for turning brands around; following its acquisition of the struggling 100-year-old Ideal Home Show from owner DMG in 2009, it quickly revived the event’s fortunes and is now staging five Ideal Home Shows across the country each year, says the company.

Media 10’s CEO Lee Newton comments: “As we did with Ideal Home Show, we have seen an opportunity to put back the basic key ingredients that made Good Homes magazine great during its prime. Media 10’s publishing division is the natural home for Good Homes, where the title will benefit from new investment to give today’s readers what they expect from a leading homes title.”

Media 10’s Publishing Director Justin Levett comments: “This is an exciting time for the magazine’s future. We have an experienced team which understands exactly what the magazine needs for a successful relaunch and sustained circulation growth. Editor Amy Curtis will be supported by a bigger team, under the experienced hand of Editor-in-Chief Lisa Allen, who edited Good Homes during its peak at BBC Worldwide in 2005-06. The relaunch will be supported by significant newstrade promotion and will see more real homes, more decorating, more makeovers, more tips and more shopping, packaged up on quality paper and fully re-designed for today’s consumer.”
