Metro sees mobile growth

August saw Metro’s monthly mobile traffic up 143% since the start of the year following the brand’s re-design of Metro.co.uk in December 2013.

Metro says: Last month Metro.co.uk reached 6.18 million global monthly unique users from mobile devices – a year-on-year growth of 104% and 143% growth since January. In the UK, 58% of Metro's digital audience now comes from mobile devices, evidencing the success of the brand's mobile growth strategy.

Metro’s urbanite audience increasingly consumes content across a wide variety of platforms and the success of the leading urban media brand’s Digital Editions, with its award winning Tablet Edition boasting more than 9,600 ratings averaging 4.5 stars, plus re-designed Metro.co.uk illustrates the brand’s strength in the digital sphere.

Linda Grant, Managing Director at Metro, said: “Metro.co.uk is showing strong month on month growth, delivering a record breaking August. Building on this, our internal figures suggest we’re on track to challenge this record next month. It’s a real testament to the hard work of the teams here.”

Grant added: “Metro.co.uk’s re-design focused on delivering for our consumers. Our espresso content, combined with a great user experience, gives our audience easy access to Metro’s array of content throughout the day. In turn, as we see more consumers choose Metro, our advertisers are also reaping the benefits.”

Metro.co.uk has seen an increase of 47% in monthly unique browsers year-on-year and 109% since January, with 12.7 million global unique visitors coming to the site in August 2013, according to the latest ABCe figures.
