MMA mobile marketer certification programme

During the Mobile Marketing Forum in Los Angeles yesterday, the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) announced the launch of its Certified Mobile Marketer Program: MMA Track, designed to provide marketers with the fundamental skills and knowledge that are critical for success in mobile marketing.

Open to individuals and organizations of all skill levels, the program is a unique, intensive opportunity to master industry terminology, budgeting and financial planning for mobile campaigns, regulatory requirements and industry best practices in mobile marketing.

The Certified Mobile Marketer Program: MMA Track consists of three certification tiers, with progressive levels of knowledge and experience required as a person progresses.  Each tier features courses and assessments on topics such as compliance with industry regulations, campaign types and elements, consumer best practices, privacy protection and campaign budgeting.  All aspects of the program emphasize the MMA’s best practices and guidelines to ensure that professionals who successfully earn the certification are well-versed in these critical areas of mobile marketing knowledge.

“We are pleased to offer the MMA’s first-ever certification program providing a convenient and highly valuable opportunity for marketers of every level to master the basics of mobile marketing and learn new strategies for taking their campaigns to the next level,” said Mike Wehrs (pictured), MMA president and CEO. “Above all, this program benefits the entire mobile marketing ecosystem by ensuring the highest industry standards and providing a seal of approval that brands, agencies and other employees can use to identify the individuals and organizations best qualified to create and execute mobile marketing campaigns.  As part of the MMA’s collaborative approach, we are very pleased that the MMA certifications will also be recognized by other industry partners.”

Newcomers will acquire expertise in mobile marketing basics, while professionals with extensive industry experience will learn new strategies for making their mobile campaigns even more effective. Marketers who successfully complete all coursework and exams will receive:

* Access to the latest industry information in the MMA Resource Center

* Documents confirming their MMA certification

* A seal of approval – also recognized by other industry organization partners – that will identify the individual or organization as a Certified Mobile Marketer

* A listing in the Career Center, a directory of all MMA-certified professionals

The MMA’s Academic Outreach Committee spearheaded the Certified Mobile Marketer Program initiative, led by committee members Michael Becker of iLoop Mobile and Jeff Hasen of HipCricket.

“Our goal in creating this program is to educate all mobile marketers on best practices, privacy issues and guidelines for the accepted ways to market to the consumer on their most personal device,” said Michael Becker, MMA Global and North American chairperson, MMA Academic Outreach Committee member, and vice president of mobile strategies for iLoop Mobile.

Educational resources will be available to those enrolled in order to inform and help guide the participants towards successfully completing MMA’s program and becoming Mobile Marketing Compliance Professionals.

“The MMA’s new certification program validates an individual’s or organization’s commitment to the mobile industry and the continuous path to keeping current with the mobile marketing channel’s evolving landscape,” said Jeff Hasen, MMA Academic Outreach Committee member and chief marketing officer for HipCricket.
