MOJO release 60s Special

Bauer Media's music monthly MOJO has released a special edition that will cover all the happenings from the decade that shaped the modern world as we know it.

MOJO '60s will reflect and represent all aspects of music - from rock to jazz via soul and blues and folk - alongside cultural events.

MOJO '60s went on sale June 15th for three months priced £9.99 presented in a beautifully designed slipcase. As well as featuring a 132 page magazine, the MOJO '60s package will also include an exclusive 7-inch single of two tracks from SMILE, the mythical 'lost' Beach Boys album set for release later this year.

MOJO '60s has been overseen by MOJO's Editor-In-Chief Phil Alexander and Art Editor Mark Wagstaff. A parallel editorial team led by Mark Blake with freelance contributions from Jon Savage, Sylvie Simmons, Mark Paytress, Lois Wilson, Phil Sutcliffe and more ensured that MOJO '60s delivers the same editorial quality as the monthly parent title.

Phil Alexander, Editor in Chief of MOJO said: "The decision to create this MOJO special edition is based on the fact that the '60s continues to resonate. As a result there are countless stories which we do not either have room to tell in the main magazine, or which we have already told but have now achieved new relevance. The aim is to create a magazine that has all the depth and quality of MOJO but focused solely on one decade."

Editorial highlights include:

• An exclusive interview with Beach Boy Brian Wilson detailing the making of the band's mythical 'lost' 1967 album, Smile.

• Previously unpublished images of Jimi Hendrix in London in '66.

• Unseen side-stage photographs of The Beatles on their first US tour in '64.

• James Brown in Vietnam: the man's legendary '68 tour revisited by those that were there.

• A celebration of all things Mod - the ultimate Mod playlist featuring 62 Mod Scorchers, plus a profile of Mod fashion, Mod Clubs and, indeed, the diary of a Mod girl.

• When LSD Took Over Music: an insider's view of the trippy happenings of '67 - including the last interview with acid guru Timothy Leary.

• Plus much, much more ranging from an eye witness account of the day that they put a man on the moon, through to the making of The Monkees TV Show, and on to the recording of The Small Faces' classic single, Itchycoo Park.

Rimi Atwal, Publishing Director of Mojo, added: "Mojo '60s illustrates the brand's unrivalled access to music talent and unparalleled archive of content. This is an outstanding special issue, and one for Mojo connoisseurs and wider music audiences to really enjoy."
