NatMag journalist is PTC New Journalist of the Year

Alex Harris from the National Magazine Company’s Men's Health took the overall title at this year’s PTC New Journalist of the Year Awards.

Harris was crowned PTC New Journalist of the Year 2010 at the event held at Vinopolis on London’s South Bank on November 26. He also won the New Consumer Journalist of the Year category.

Terri White of ShortList was crowned New Editor of the Year while New Consumer Specialist/Customer Journalist of the Year went to Daniel Bennett of BBC Focus Magazine.

Writers from UBM Medica’s Chemist+Druggist were triumphant in two categories: Chris Chapman for New Business News Journalist of the Year and Jennifer Richardson for New Section Editor of the Year.

New Business Features Journalist of the Year went to Nick Duxbury of Inside Housing (Ocean Media Group) and New Designer of the Year went to Victoria Dimmick of Cosmopolitan (National Magazine Company).

Moya Sarner of City University, London was named Most Promising Student Journalist of the Year.

Loraine Davies, Director of the Periodicals Training Council (PTC), said: “The standard of this year’s entries was exceptional and really shows the breadth and depth of new talent within magazine journalism.”

The PTC New Journalist of the Year Awards was preceded by a Masterclass attended by students on PTC-accredited magazine journalism courses.
