New editor for redesigned ELLE Collections

25 July: ELLE UK has announced the appointment of Rebecca Lowthorpe as Editor of its newly redesigned luxury biannual, ELLE Collections, as well as her promotion to Assistant Editor of ELLE.

Rebecca (pictured), ELLE’s Fashion Features Director for the last nine years, has already managed the production of her first issue of ELLE Collections - (Autumn/Winter), overseen by ELLE Editor-in-chief Lorraine Candy. The issue is on sale now. The magazine has undergone a reinvention with the introduction of a new newspaper pull-out – the first for a fashion glossy, say the publishers – and a special edition to target high spending Chinese tourists in the UK.

As well as her new role at ELLE Collections, Rebecca has also been promoted from Fashion Features Director to the role of Assistant Editor at ELLE UK where she will be involved in more strategic planning as well as retaining her authority as Fashion Features Director. The September issue of ELLE also sees the launch of Rebecca's new column 'Don't You Get It?' in which she discusses the viability of fashion's trickiest trends

Rebecca reports into Editor-in-Chief of ELLE UK and ELLE Collections, Lorraine Candy.

Rebecca is an experienced Fashion Editor and writer and has worked for a variety of leading UK and US publications including The Independent, Sunday Times Style, Style.com, The Observer, Telegraph Magazine and Harper’s Bazaar US. She joined ELLE UK as Fashion Features Editor in 2004 before being promoted to Fashion Features Director in 2007.

Highlights of the latest issue of ELLE Collections (Autumn/Winter 2013), on sale July 25, include an exclusive never-seen-before photographic portfolio, featuring 36 intimate self-portraits from the biggest designers in the fashion industry including Dolce & Gabbana, Dries Van Noten, Erdem, Christopher Kane, Roksanda Ilincic, J W Anderson, Simone Rocha, Hussein Chalayan, Giles, Isabel Marant and many more.

The issue also features a world exclusive, limited edition pin-up poster of model Sky Ferreira, shot and art directed by Saint Laurent Creative Director Hedi Slimane.

10,000 copies of the latest issue of ELLE Collections also have an additional London shopping guide in Mandarin Chinese which will be distributed at key hotels, airlines and tour operators. It will also be available digitally via Apple Newsstand.

ELLE UK’s Editor-in-chief, Lorraine Candy, says of Rebecca’s appointment: “Rebecca is a highly respected and talented journalist and editor with extraordinary contacts and a deep understanding of the fashion industry. She has already made her mark with the latest issue of ELLE Collections and I’m confident her knowledge and skills will be hugely valuable to both ELLE Collections and ELLE UK, as we continue to develop and grow both brands.”

Rebecca says: “It’s a real privilege to edit ELLE Collections because it’s the ultimate creative expression of the ELLE brand. I’m also looking forward to my new role as Assistant Editor on ELLE, working closely with Lorraine to continue to develop ELLE’s innovative 360 approach, encompassing ELLE, ELLE Collections, www.elleuk.com and the numerous exciting special projects yet to come.”

ELLE Collections has a cover price of £7 and is also available as a digital edition on Apple Newsstand. The magazine features different paper stock throughout, adding to the unique look and feel of the title and increasing the collectable value, say the publishers.
