Amanda (pictured), who will assume the publishing responsibility of both brands in January 2013, joins Hearst with a wealth of global commercial experience across multi-platforms including publishing, newspaper, digital and TV. She spent ten years in senior sales and management roles at Hachette Filipacchi in Asia Pacific with responsibility for numerous magazine brands including ELLE and ELLE Decor; and as Director, Marketing and Communications at the South China Morning Post.

Currently working at Discovery Networks as Director of Integrated Marketing and Commercial Partnerships, CEEMEA (Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa), Amanda is highly experienced in all aspects of media brand management including launches and repositioning, and has a strong track record in advertising sales, trade and consumer marketing, brand advocacy and client relationship management. At Hearst UK, Amanda will report into COO, Anna Jones, and work closely with Harper’s Bazaar Editor, Justine Picardie, Esquire Editor, Alex Bilmes and Jacquie Euwe, Publisher Harper’s Bazaar / Sales Director Luxury Group, to drive the commercial and multi-platform growth of both Hearst brands.

According to Hearst, Harper’s Bazaar is one of the UK’s most prestigious luxury fashion brands and continues to see impressive growth across all platforms with its highest ever combined print & digital ABC figure recently, up 5.2% year on year. Esquire, the upmarket men’s monthly title, posted its yearly highest combined sales figure of 59,907, up 1.5% year on year during the recent ABCs.

Arnaud de Puyfontaine, Chief Executive of Hearst Magazines UK says: “Harper’s Bazaar and Esquire are brands of huge strategic and commercial importance to our business and I am delighted that Amanda, with her extensive commercial experience, has joined Hearst. Amanda is well placed to drive both brands forward and has the expertise to leverage Harper’s Bazaar and Esquire across multi-platforms, nurture client relationships and develop ground-breaking and effective brand strategies.”

Amanda Turnbull says: “I’m thrilled to be re-joining the publishing business, particularly at a time when the eco-system is evolving in favour of strong brands across multiple platforms. In Harper’s Bazaar and Esquire, we have two of the strongest brands in the sector and in Justine and Alex, two of the strongest Editors. I’m looking forward to working with them and Jacquie Euwe to drive these illustrious brands to the next stage of their development.”
