Neil Jagger: “We hope that asking people to wear their warmest clothes before the real cold weather sets in, will serve to highlight the cause even more and the industry will step up and support our work in this very visual and hopefully fun way.”

Industry charity NewstrAid, has announced the launch of an awareness day to highlight the plight of many of their beneficiaries who are unable to cover the cost of heating this winter.

Woolly Wednesday will take place on Wednesday 19th October 2022 and will ask industry colleagues to come together to raise awareness about the charity and raise a few pounds to support its work, says NewstrAid.

Neil Jagger CEO for NewstrAid said: “There is no doubt that worry and stress about heating and energy costs are at the forefront of everyone’s mind and we are starting to hear some heart-breaking feedback from our beneficiaries who just don’t know how they will meet the cost of their rising bills. Woolly Wednesday aims to bring the whole industry together in support of colleagues who are facing extreme hardship over the coming months.”

The initiative aims to raise £1000 in donations to support NewstrAid beneficiaries as well as increase awareness about the support that the charity can offer. NewstrAid says everyone from the industry is invited to take part in Woolly Wednesday on 19th October by doing the following.

Step 1. Wear your finest winter woollies for the day – It could be your favourite sweater, your most beloved beanie or a treasured cardi, if it’s woolly, it’s in!

Step 2. Take a photo of yourself in your cherished woolly and post it on social media using the hashtag #WoollyWednesday and tagging NewstrAid: Facebook: @NewstrAid.benevolentfund LinkedIN: NewstraidBenevolentFund Instagram: @newstraid_ Twitter: @NewstrAid

Step 3. Donate a few pounds to NewstrAid via our Just Giving page: www.justgiving.com/campaign/WoollyWednesday2022

Woolly Wednesday also coincides with the distribution of NewstrAid’s Winter Comfort grant, says the charity, which provides around 400 vulnerable beneficiaries with a small financial boost to help them stay warm during the colder months.

Neil Jagger added: “We hope that asking people to wear their warmest clothes before the real cold weather sets in, will serve to highlight the cause even more and the industry will step up and support our work in this very visual and hopefully fun way.”
