Observer to launch new technology supplement

A brand new monthly technology supplement is being launched by The Observer on Sunday 15 September.

Observer Tech Monthly will bring together news and developments from the world of science and technology and will cover a host of opinions, debates, interviews and reviews from finance to fashion, and from media to medicine.

As a new supplement exclusively for The Observer, Observer Tech Monthly will build on the rich and varied content the paper has covered in recent years in the technology and science field. From the successful TEDxObserver events, to the growing coverage of technology, science and ideas in The New Review and throughout the paper, Observer Tech Monthly will champion the opportunities, the anxieties and the excitement which technology creates, say the publishers.

John Mulholland, editor of The Observer and Tech Monthly, said: “Tech Monthly marks a hugely exciting moment for The Observer and places us right at the heart of the conversation about technology and science in this country. From fashion to finance and from media to medicine, science and technology is changing all our professional and personal lives. That's why it is such an incredibly rich area for journalism to explore and we are thrilled to be developing this further. Observer and Guardian science and technology writers are leaders in their field, and we are delighted to create a new space to share their journalism.”

Regular features of Observer Tech Monthly will include:

• A brand new gaming column by playwright Lucy Prebble

• A ‘Geek Calendar’ which will look at the month ahead for tech talks, launches and hackathons

• A technology column by Guardian News & Media’s head of technology, Jemima Kiss

• Monthly reviews of the latest games, hardware and software

• ‘Bright sparks’, which will focus on groundbreaking new ideas from teenagers

The new supplement will come free every month with The Observer, and will also feature in the Guardian and Observer iPad edition, as well as online and on mobile.
