Having started life as The Official PlayStation Magazine in late 1995, the magazine developed with the console and changed its name to Official PlayStation 2 Magazine in late 2000 and then again into its current guise in late 2006 when Official PlayStation Magazine began life in the run-up to PlayStation 3's European release.
Now on its 115th issue, OPM's 20th anniversary special is a bumper 200-page edition split across two magazines. Celebratory features include a year-by-year breakdown of the last two decades in the History Of PlayStation, some of the world's best developers sharing their Secrets Of PlayStation, the OPM readership's favourite ever PlayStation Memories, and – in the interest of fairness – the 20 Worst Moments Of PlayStation.
Meanwhile, readers voted Uncharted 4: A Thief's End as their most wanted PS4 game and so series hero Nathan Drake graces the cover ahead of an exclusive ten-page feature on the final Uncharted game. Plus OPM readers can win ultra-rare PlayStation gear including a 20th Anniversary PS4 and a limited edition Metal Gear Solid V watch.
Also in the issue, original 1995 launch editor Steve Jarratt tells the story of OPM's genesis (which started life as a splinter project in the wake of sister magazine EDGE's launch), and looks back at the very first issue – when Tomb Raider was called Tomb Raiders, Resident Evil was still just known as Biohazard and Ridge Racer became the highest scoring launch game with a 9/10.
Matthew Pellett, Editor of Official PlayStation Magazine, says, “As a former subscriber to The Official PlayStation Magazine it's incredible to see how far both the magazine and the PlayStation brand has come. I was ten years old when PS1 was released and I still remember those early demos as if it were yesterday. Over the past year the team has work tirelessly to ensure that we honour two decades of PlayStation in the best way possible, and our 20th anniversary issue is a spectacular celebration of the world's greatest console lineage.”
