Pay-Per-View for Publishers added to Videobuilder

A feature allowing publishers to easily overlay payment and freeview gateways to their video content has been added to Videobuilder.

With just a few clicks, a credit-card payment gateway can be added to individual videos or entire inventories. Voucher codes can also be created, allowing publishers to reward subscribers with free or reduced rate access to their video while charging others to access the content.

All publishers need do is create a PayPal account which can be linked to their Videobuilder account in seconds. Once a retail-price has been set and voucher codes created, all specified video will be interrupted at the allotted time, and will only continue on submission of payment or receipt of a voucher code. The publisher keeps all revenue generated.

“Many publishers spend significant sums on video production and then simply give it away”, said Richard Counsell, CEO of Videobuilder. “Through Videobuilder, they can now reward subscribers by giving exclusive access to specified video while charging others to watch it”.

Pay-per-view is the first of a host of new features being added to the Videobuilder service in 2012. Upcoming features are set to include citizen journalism and video competitions, says the company.
