Sainsbury’s magazine’s record breaking Xmas issue

Sainsbury’s magazine’s December issue hits the shelves this week – and, according to the publishers, it’s the biggest issue in the publication’s 18 year history, breaking all previous advertising records!

According to publishers, Seven: “Bursting at the seams with holiday inspiration and value, the new issue is available in store from 2 November, giving readers more food, more features and more freebies and still only an incredible £1.60!

The massive Christmas-themed 276-page issue, which has 88 more pages than the publication’s average pagination, is not only great value, but it’s the only food title readers will need to see them through the festive season.

The award-winning magazine has also secured an impressive 70% increase in advertising, with an unprecedented 119 pages of advertising secured for the special issue, higher than previous Sainsbury’s magazine issues that have touched the 70-page mark.

With a 12-page advertorial booklet celebrating Christmas drinks from Sainsbury’s including beers, wines and spirits, a special four-page section for First Drinks featuring Russian Standard and Remy Martin, a two-page throw-out for Premier Foods, featuring brands such as Oxo and Paxo, and specially created bound-ins for Beverley Hills and Three Barrels, brands have been stepping over themselves to feature in the most widely read fully-paid-for monthly magazine in Britain.

Advertisers are well aware that Sainsbury’s magazine readers are among Sainsbury’s most valuable shoppers, especially during the holiday season when they spend more on a wider range of goods and often trade up on featured products. With Sainsbury’s magazine’s Christmas issue selling the most copies, advertisers are given maximum coverage, making the best use of their budget.

Featuring even more festive recipes and ideas from top names in food, including Jamie Oliver, Nigella Lawson, Raymond Blanc, Nigel Slater and Rachel Allen, the new issue of Sainsbury’s magazine covers every possible detail to make sure you have a very merry Christmas, from great gifts to buy and crafty ones to make to inspiring ideas to decorate the home, plus festive fashion, beauty and confidence tips to ensure you are looking perfect for the party season!

That’s not all - with a free Lindt chocolate bar, free Christmas roses (worth over £15) and a free Rat Pack CD, not to mention great money-off vouchers inside, Sainsbury’s magazine is treating every reader with great Christmas giveaways!  We’ve even included a 60p-off voucher so readers can pick up the January issue for just £1!

No other magazine gives readers so much quality content for such a great-value price. As a result, Sainsbury’s magazine has been shortlisted for Best Consumer Publication, and Helena Lang, editor of the magazine, nominated for the prestigious Editor of the Year award at the International Content Marketing Awards 2011 this month.

Helena Lang says: “Our editorial team have worked their socks off producing this bumper Christmas issue. Our promise to readers to triple-test every recipe means we’ve baked mountains of mince pies, roasted a dozen turkeys, peeled 10kg of Brussels sprouts and tasted – all in the name of research – our fair share of wine, whisky and fizz! Our great-looking editorial means that advertisers can feel 100% confident that their copy will be seen in the company of the absolute best in the business.”

Sainsbury’s magazine, published by Seven, the award-winning customer engagement agency, is now the UK’s most widely read paid-for title. With over 3.5 million readers every month (NRS), it is the only magazine to have won the covetable PPA Customer Magazine Award three times at the annual Periodical Publisher’s Association (PPA) Awards.

Sainsbury’s magazine’s unique mix of food and lifestyle content offers its readers recipe inspiration from the magazine’s renowned food team, plus ideas for their homes, families, health and holidays. At only £1.60, the monthly glossy is incredible value, with tips and advice from the best writers and contributors.”
