Ted Moncreiff named Editor of Bloomberg Pursuits

Ted Moncreiff has been named Editor of Bloomberg Pursuits magazine, the global lifestyle luxury publication from Bloomberg Markets magazine.

Moncreiff will report to Bloomberg Markets Editor Ron Henkoff and brings to his new role extensive experience in luxury lifestyle journalism. He worked for Condé Nast Traveler for 15 years, including four years as executive editor. He was later the executive editor at Newsweek, and moved to the role of executive editor and content strategist at W magazine.

Moncrieff was most recently the editorial director of Condé Nast Ideactive, the company’s custom publishing division.

Moncreiff’s arrival coincides with the announcement that due to its success with readers and advertisers, Bloomberg Pursuits will increase its frequency from bi-annually to quarterly in 2013. The magazine will also launch an iPad app version next year.

Bloomberg Pursuits is distributed to all 375,000 Bloomberg Markets subscribers - a highly coveted and affluent readership comprised largely of users of the Bloomberg Professional service (“the terminal”) around the world. The average household income of a Bloomberg Pursuits reader is $490,000 with an average net worth of $2.5 million, says Bloomberg.

Bloomberg Pursuits will have cover dates of April, June, October and December issues in 2013.

Bloomberg Pursuits has invested in both editorial and sales teams throughout Europe, in key cities such as London, Paris and Milan. In the two 2012 issues, much of the editorial and photography content were written and shot in these locations, including a profile of Milan banker and Patek Phillippe watch collector Alfredo Paramico, a cover travel story with master chef Alain Ducasse, and a rare interview with LVMH heir Antoine Arnault (who modeled his new Berluti suit collection).

The Bloomberg Pursuits for Apple iPad app will premiere with the first issue of 2013 and download automatically to subscribers of the Bloomberg Markets+ app.

According to the publishers, Bloomberg Pursuits saw significant uptake of new advertising clients within its two 2012 issues. Of the 43 advertisers to appear in the magazine, half were new to Bloomberg, including Hermes, Ralph Lauren, Salvatore Ferragamo, Montblanc, Rolls Royce, Harry Winston, Shangri-La Hotels, Ritz Carlton, Bergdorf Goodman and DeLéon Tequila.

Bloomberg Pursuits recently won its first editorial award – the Los Angeles Press Club’s National Entertainment Journalism Award in the ‘Feature/Series Over 1,000 Words’ category to Katya Kazakina for her “Picasso Reconsidered” article.

Bloomberg Markets magazine serves the global financial elite, providing insight and perspective on the companies, trends, issues and people that move the world's markets.
