Robinson has been a central figure in the evolution of local and regional news, helping to steer newsrooms through the digital era while maintaining the strength and relevance of printed newspapers. Over nearly four decades, he has held a series of senior editorial roles across the UK, from local editor to group managing editor and ultimately to his most recent leadership post at Iconic Media.
As publisher of the Daily Press Division, Robinson oversaw production of eight city daily newspapers from Edinburgh to Portsmouth and managed print operations for The Scotsman and Scotland on Sunday. He also led central content and design teams that serve the group’s portfolio across the country.
He has been a key player in modernising production systems, introducing new technologies and workflows, and extending the life and quality of printed products.
Reflecting on his retirement, Robinson said: “It’s been an incredible journey, working with so many talented colleagues and seeing the industry adapt and evolve. I’m immensely proud of what we’ve achieved together, and while I’ll miss the buzz of the newsroom, it feels like the right time to step back and make space for the next generation of leaders.”
Iconic Media chief executive Malcolm Denmark said: “We’re sorry to see Tim go and will greatly miss his expertise and enthusiasm. He’s played a crucial role in transforming how we work and in strengthening the future of our printed products. Tim leaves with our heartfelt thanks and very best wishes for a well-earned retirement.”
