Times Radio reaches YouTube milestone
Brian Whelan: "We are incredibly proud to have reached one million followers on YouTube.”

Times Radio has announced that its YouTube channel has reached a milestone of one million subscribers. This achievement reflects the growing popularity of the station’s news and political content, journalism, and conversations, added the publisher.

Since its launch in 2020, Times Radio says it has offered listeners commentary, interviews, and discussions on the issues that matter most. In 2024 Times Radio says it became The Election Station, as the UK and half the world’s population went to the polls, and provided listeners with on-going political analysis and context.

The publisher says the success of its YouTube channel is a testament to the station’s commitment to making high-quality news and talk radio also accessible in video format.

Brian Whelan, head of social media & video at Times Radio, said: "We are incredibly proud to have reached one million followers on YouTube. It’s a huge vote of confidence from our listeners and viewers who have embraced Times Radio as a trusted source of news and debate. This milestone is just the beginning, as we continue to grow and bring even more engaging content to our audiences.”

Times Radio says notable success stories from its YouTube channel include:

  • Over 10 million hours viewed of original interview show Frontline so far in 2024 (covering war in Ukraine and Kremlinology)
  • Average repeat viewer watches for 8mins
  • Growing subchannel Times Radio Politics launched in September 2024
  • Audience growth in the US, 25% of viewers now in US
  • 300 million views so far in 2024

In the latest round of RAJAR audience listening figures, Times Radio says it saw a reach of 478k with weekly listening hours of 4.2m, meaning these hard-to-reach affluent listeners are highly engaged, listening for an average 8.9 hours each week.

Times Radio is available on DAB radio, online, on smart speakers, and via the free app.
