Bureau, who has been a member of the PPA Board and Executive Committee since 2012, was appointed to the role at the annual meeting of the association’s Board of Directors. He succeeds Marcus Rich, CEO of TI Media, who will now serve as Deputy Chairman for 2020.
“I am thrilled to welcome Tom Bureau as the new PPA Chairman for the next two years,” said PPA CEO Barry McIlheney. “Tom has been a great supporter of the PPA in his time at Immediate, and brings a wealth of experience to the role at such an important and exciting time for our industry.”
He added: “We look forward to officially welcoming Tom at our PPA Chairman’s Reception on February 26, at which we will also have the opportunity to thank our outgoing Chairman Marcus Rich for his outstanding tenure these last two years.”
Tom Bureau has more than 20 years’ experience of running online content and cross-media companies, and launched Immediate in 2011, publishing some of the UK’s most famous brands, including Radio Times and BBC Good Food. Tom also oversaw Immediate's sale from Exponent Private Equity to the Hubert Burda Media Company in 2017.
Tom Bureau commented: “I’m delighted to be taking on the Chairmanship of the PPA as we embark on a new and exciting decade. The work the PPA does is essential, bringing publishers together in a unique way to collaborate, and to advance our common goals. I am looking forward very much to working with Team PPA and all of our members to drive our industry forward.”
