VICE UK celebrates 10th birthday

To mark its tenth birthday, VICE UK has published two issues: 'The Syria Issue' and 'The 10th Anniversary Issue'.

'The Syria Issue' is devoted entirely to Syria: frontline war reporting/photo journalism, culture, lifestyle, interviews etc.

'The 10th Anniversary Issue' looks back on 10 years of VICE in the UK featuring interviews with Ian Hislop and Adam Curtis.

VICE UK says: Having being born in a Shoreditch gutter 10 years ago, VICE UK has stumbled, offended, bribed and brawled its way through the media landscape over the past decade to land, scarred but catching the breeze somewhere near the top of the pile in 2012.

Not only have we created the only free magazine on the planet that doesn’t completely suck, VICE has been transformed into an all-conquering media juggernaut, that consists of 1000 employees spread over offices in 34 countries; web channels covering music, film, news, technology and art & culture; a film division that will release a feature length documentary on Snoop Dogg next year, a new TV series launching on HBO, a record label and a book publishing arm.

We have travelled the globe to the likes North Korea, Congo, Syria and Liberia to give alternate takes on global news; developed the best original web content on our slew of channels (10 million unique users since you asked) and launched two of the year’s most successful YouTube Original Content Channels, with VICE and Noisey.

And, VICE takes some responsibility for popularizing pointing and laughing at people in ‘Do’s and Don’t’s’.

To commemorate hitting such a landmark, we’ve released two issues of the magazine: 'The Syria Issue' and 'The 10th Anniversary Issue'.
