Vogue Czech Republic and Slovakia will debut as a multi-media brand both in print and online in August 2018 with the September issue.
It will be published under license agreement with V24 Media. The Czech edition of Vogue will be the 24th edition of the fashion title.
“Condé Nast International is pleased to begin publishing in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. There’s a strong appetite for luxury fashion and beauty. The time is now right for Vogue,” said Newhouse.
According to Condé Nast, the launch reflects the growth of the luxury market in the Czech Republic and Slovakia and more widely the emergence of Central Eastern Europe as a centre for fashion creativity. Over the past decade, the luxury fashion and art market has seen growth together with GDP in the region. Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic has gained status as a luxury shopping destination.
Michaela Seewald, Co-Founder and Director of V24 media remarked, “My vision for Vogue Czech Republic and Slovakia is to provide a platform for local fashion designers and artists to present their own unique style and approach that is inevitably a reflection of contemporary Czech and Slovak culture. Vogue has been ‘the authority’ on global fashion trends for more than 100 years and I am convinced that the talent here has the potential to have material impact on the fashion world, with Vogue Czech Republic and Slovakia as the platform of telling their story. I'm truly excited about this opportunity.”
Seewald will lead the strategic direction of Vogue Czech Republic, together with Fabrice Biundo, Co-Founder and CEO of V24 Media. Having achieved a doctorate in law and founded SV Law, a full-service law firm based in Prague, Seewald has advised some of the worlds’ leading media, fashion and technology companies. A prominent figure in the Czech media scene, Biundo will bring over 25 years of publishing experience to the title, having executed project development across a portfolio of fashion lifestyle publications and served as International Project Director of Burda Media Group.
Karina Dobrotvorskaya, President of Condé Nast New Markets and Editorial Director, Brand Development, commented, “I am thrilled to announce the upcoming launch of Vogue Czech Republic and Slovakia, which comes right after the successful launch of Vogue Poland. It is exciting to see the rise of fashion in Eastern Europe - the arrival of Vogue is a sign that the area is ready to fully embrace and reflect the world of high fashion. Czech and Slovakian women have perfect taste and an appetite for luxury goods, both local and international. I am confident that the young, dynamic team will deliver an interesting Vogue with its own unique vision of this lavish and fascinating culture.”
Vogue Czech Republic and Slovakia will deliver content via print and digital platforms, covering fashion and arts from cities such as Prague and Bratislava, as well as internationally. Further news will follow regarding appointments to the editorial team of Vogue Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Vogue Czech Republic and Slovakia is the twenty-fourth edition of the magazine worldwide.
