Xavier Romatet named Condé Nast International VP

Xavier Romatet, the President Directeur-General of Condé Nast France, will become a Vice President of Condé Nast International and join the organisation's Executive Committee.

The announcement was made yesterday by Jonathan Newhouse, Chairman and Chief Executive. Xavier’s new position is effective January 1, 2017.

Xavier joined Condé Nast France as President in April 2006. Under his direction, Condé Nast France continued its strong leadership of the upmarket publishing sector while expanding its activities, says Condé Nast.

The company launched Gentlemen's Quarterly in 2008 and Vanity Fair in 2013 and moved “vigorously” into the areas of digital, video, event and brand publishing. As Condé Nast International's most senior executive based in Paris, Xavier maintains close relationships with many of Condé Nast's important advertising partners.

As Xavier joins the Executive Committee, Condé Nast Italy President Giampaolo Grandi will step down from his role on the council where he has played a role since it began in the late 1990s. These moves can be considered part of an occasional rotation of committee membership aimed at bringing fresh voices to the highest level of organisational leadership. Giampaolo has played a key role in the Executive Committee for many years by contributing his wisdom and insight in his unique and forthright style, says the company.

"It is a great honour to join the Executive Committee and I look forward to contributing to the important work it does as an undisputed leader in shaping the media of tomorrow", said Romatet.
