Launched in 2003 to train people for a job and a future career in the UK printing, publishing and the graphic arts industries, individual Print Futures Awards of up to £1,500 are available to help pay for tuition fees and other costs associated with part-time or full-time training courses or degree education.
The awards are open to people aged between 16 and 30 years, who are resident in the UK and intend to or already work in the UK printing, publishing or graphic arts sectors. Application forms can be downloaded from the dedicated website.
This year the awards have a vibrant and contemporary new look designed by a young graphic designer, Ryan Tym, a 2010 Awards shortlisted entrant. His design of an outline of a tree symbolising job and career progression was chosen following a pitch process. It focuses on ink in the printing process and is used in three colourways – cyan, magenta or yellow.
“We are delighted to launch these awards for 2011,” says Dale Wallis, BPIF Membership Director. “As we want to encourage and support young talent in the industry, we invited a number of previous applicants to submit their design concepts for this year’s Print Futures Awards. Ryan’s winning design is being used across the communication channels, including the dedicated Print Futures Awards website and application form.”
