AP signs Daily Mail for online video delivery platform

The Associated Press has signed the Daily Mail as its latest customer for AP Video Hub, the “state-of-the-art” video delivery platform for digital publishers.

Other customers signed to the site include the UK’s Daily Telegraph and The Wall Street Journal.

AP Video Hub was designed to meet the growing demand for video news from news-centric websites looking to populate their sites with easy-to-access, broadcast-quality news. The platform launched in April, and offers global news, entertainment, SNTV (sports) and lifestyle video to customers. Site curators select and promote breaking news content alongside key footage from AP’s extensive video archive.

The site now also offers customers a 24/7 live news stream so that breaking news events such as the U.S. elections and Hurricane Sandy are available for AP Video Hub customers to broadcast live on their websites.

Sue Brooks, AP director of video transformation, said: “The Daily Mail has a major media brand with global recognition for its website. AP is proud that it will utilize AP Video Hub to access our video content.”

Brooks added: “Video news is no longer the sole preserve of satellite broadcasters and AP has addressed this with an offering for digital publishers -- a rapidly growing segment of the video news market. AP Video Hub is already proving itself as an indispensable tool, enabling AP customers to create an even richer storytelling experience for their audiences. The recent addition of live news makes Video Hub an even more compelling option.”

AP Video Hub is part of AP’s multimillion-dollar investment in its video business to meet the needs of customers in the digital age. AP recently completed its upgrade to high-definition news delivery, in the largest rollout of HD by any news agency globally, says AP. To reach this point, AP has changed the way it gathers, produces and distributes video to customers. New distribution platforms include AP Video Hub and the AP Archive website.
