Bauer appoints Jan Wachtel

Bauer Media Group has announced the appointment of media and digital professional Jan Wachtel as president of its Publishing Business Area to drive the transformation of its publishing business.

Bauer Media Group’s Publishing business has been at the heart of the company for almost 150 years, says the publisher. It includes more than 400 titles and over 100 digital products across Germany, UK, Poland and France. Jan Wachtel’s appointment comes at a key time as the company transforms itself to take full advantage of the opportunities global digitisation brings, they added.

According to Bauer, Jan will join the company on 1 January 2023, is a media and publishing specialist and has worked with companies including Axel Springer, BILD, and RTL Group, where he was on the executive board. He is currently Co-CEO Firstlead GmbH - Adcell - an affiliate network. Jan brings with him huge experience of both print and digital publishing.

Commenting on the appointment, Bauer Media Group CEO Yvonne Bauer said: “Publishing as a sector is undergoing a period of unpredicted change. Jan’s print and digital publishing experience means he is ideally placed to drive the transformation of our Publishing business. This will enable us to maximize our print publishing while at the same time accelerating digital growth.”
