BBC Top Gear launches in Portugal

BBC Top Gear Magazine is now available in Portugal, following a licensing deal between BBC Magazines and Goody Consultoria SA.

Under the editorship of Paulo Passarinho, the monthly magazine launched on 30 June, with a cover price of €3.95. The initial print run was 35,000 copies and approximately 35% of the content was produced locally in Portugal, with the remaining content taken from the UK edition of the magazine.

Editor Paulo Passarinho said: “We are very excited to be launching Top Gear in Portugal. We strive to publish unique and exclusive magazines and Top Gear has precisely that kind of singularity that makes magazines a different and successful medium.”

Joanna Marshall, Head of International Licensing and Syndication at BBC Magazines, said: "Top Gear Magazine offers unique content and a strong positioning in the automotive market. We are very excited to work with Goody Consultoria SA in the Portuguese market.”

BBC Top Gear Magazine (UK) has a circulation of 191,539 (ABC Jul-Dec10), up 0.6% period on period. Top Gear Magazine has 25 licensed editions and is available in over 50 territories across the world.
