BMJ appoints new US Marketing and Sales Director

BMJ, one of the world’s leading healthcare knowledge providers, has announced the appointment of Joe Douress as US Marketing and Sales Director to help drive the company’s US business objectives.

Joe has proven success in developing and launching new products and increasing market share in the information services and publishing industry, says BMJ.

Joe’s previous role was as Chief Marketing & Product Officer for Buyers Lab. He has also held senior roles with high-profile organisations including Dun & Bradstreet, LexisNexis, and Elsevier Health Sciences.

As senior VP of Global Marketing and Sales Development at Elsevier Medical Research, Joe led a strategic marketing program that transformed revenues in the global hospital sector. And as General Manger of the Small Law segment at LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell, he led the team that propelled lawyers.com to the top lawyer search site on the web.

Joe is former editor and publisher of Dun & Bradstreet’s Exporters’ Encyclopaedia and has also co-authored best-selling global marketing books published by Prentice-Hall. He serves on the boards of a number of non-profit organisations and is founder of a charity that benefits seriously ill children.

Joe will report directly to BMJ US Managing Director Glen Campbell, who said: “Joe brings valuable insight and dynamic leadership skills to our business as we expand our activities in the US. His ability to translate vision into action will be crucial to our success and will help us to realise our full potential in the US health sector.”

Joe said of his new role, “I am very excited to be joining BMJ – a highly respected and trusted voice in global healthcare. BMJ is well positioned for growth and success in the US market and I’m looking forward to contributing to its future success.”
