Egmont launches new Thomas the Tank Engine range

Thomas & Friends speeds into 2012 with the relaunch of the Thomas magazine portfolio and a brand new range of Thomas story books.

Egmont is introducing a new monthly magazine, Thomas Express, which launches on 8th February, jam-packed with activities, two giant posters and a truckload of gifts.

Thomas fans are full of energy, so this new dynamic monthly magazine is crammed with everything they need in one bagged pack. With games, make-its, stickers, writing, counting and colouring in every issue, it has all the ingredients to keep kids busy for hours. Thomas Express retails at £3.99.

For the ultimate Thomas fan, Thomas & Friends magazine will continue to publish every two weeks. But from 15th February watch out for a new look magazine that’s full of even more Thomas facts, maps, puzzles and stories, plus an exclusive Thomas gift free with every issue. Standard issues retail at £2.45.

The Thomas & Friends brand has been supporting two magazine titles in the market for over 10 years and Egmont has ambitious plans for growth with this new portfolio, which has an estimated annual RSV of £5m.

Following a major investment in market research, Egmont is also launching a new collectable series of Thomas story books, based on the new TV series. They are aimed at 1–3 year olds who are most familiar with the TV show and are priced at £2.99 each.

Egmont is publishing fifteen story books in total this year, with plans to extend the range even further in 2013. The first five titles in the range: The Tall Friend, Thomas’ Crazy Day, Busy Engines, Belle’s New Friend and Fire Engine Flynn join the classic Thomas Story Library series, which has sold over 9 million copies since its launch in 2003.

David Riley, Managing Director, Egmont Publishing Group, commented: “The appeal of Thomas is broad. It has both a strong traditional heritage and a TV series loved by younger children. Through both classically illustrated and contemporary CGI titles, including our new story book range and our magazine portfolio, Egmont is confident that our publishing caters for Thomas fans of all ages.”

Egmont has been publishing Thomas & Friends books and magazines for over 12 years.
