Elle’s Tom Meredith to join InStyle

Fashion and beauty title InStyle has appointed ELLE’s art director, Tom Meredith, to the newly-created position of creative director.

Tom takes the creative helm at InStyle in May, bringing with him nine years’ experience in magazine design. Joining ELLE after two years designing for Harper’s Bazaar, Tom’s seven years at ELLE have seen him rise to art director and last year was acting creative director. During his tenure at ELLE, the team has won numerous prestigious awards for design including PPA, BSME, SPD, MD&JA and the D&AD Yellow Pencil.  Tom also relaunched and redesigned ELLE Collections as art director and launched and art directed its iPad app.

InStyle editor Eilidh MacAskill says: “I've been a long-time fan of Tom Meredith's work, so it feels incredibly natural to be welcoming him to InStyle, and I know he will help us take the magazine to even greater heights.  This appointment – and newly created role - underlines how serious we are about making InStyle an even more attractive proposition for readers and advertisers.”

Tom Meredith says: "InStyle is a well-established global brand and I am a big fan. I’m hugely excited about this new challenge and working with Eilidh and her talented team. I can’t wait to get started."

InStyle publishing director Rita Lewis adds: “InStyle has cemented its position as a serious rival to long-established fashion magazines.  It is a credible, yet accessible, must-buy fashion title, and this hire demonstrates our intention to further underpin InStyle’s fashion credentials.”

In addition to his work on the magazine, Tom will be working with Eilidh MacAskill and Rita Lewis on InStyle initiatives such as Film InStyle and the Best of British Talent BAFTA event.
