evo expands international reach with China launch

evo, Dennis Publishing’s performance car magazine, is to be licensed in China, making it the publisher’s most prominent international brand with a total of 18 licenses globally in addition to the UK title.

In 2013 the magazine was licensed by partners in India, Argentina and Australia, and will now be launched from Beijing by China Automotive News Co this month. The specialist car title was already licensed in 17 territories across the globe; with the China license, evo now has 18 licensed editions available in 33 international territories including France, Middle East, Singapore, Italy and Malaysia,

Ian Bedwell, Dennis Publishing’s International Licensing Director said: “2013 has been a great year for evo internationally. The content from the magazine translates very well and has a global appeal for motoring enthusiasts, making it the perfect candidate for international licensing. Confirming China as a new territory for Dennis with the evo license is a great start to the year and truly cements the magazine as an international brand. We are already in talks with potential partners for more evo licenses in the coming months.”

Geoff Love, Publishing Director of Dennis Motoring, said: “The growth of the evo franchise worldwide is a recognition of the demand from international motoring publishers for high quality content. evo’s passion for providing independent reviews on the world’ greatest driving cars provides compelling content that has worldwide appeal. As the global car market expands, with developing territories becoming increasingly important, we are delighted to see evo developing publishing partners in many of these new markets. This also strengthens our position with manufacturers as a test drive of a car with evo will be published throughout the world and not just in the English language.”

Vince Zhang, from China Automotive News, said: “We are very excited about licensing evo in China. The luxury car market is growing and there is a large demand for quality automotive content. 2013 was a very successful year for car sales in China which looks set to continue into 2014, so we are confident that the new launch will be very well received by readers and advertisers alike.”

Evo China launches in January 2014.
