Fresh new look for Motor Sport

Motor Sport magazine has undergone a major redesign, with only the famous green masthead remaining untouched.

The all-new Motor Sport, on sale March 29, 2013, will be launched with a 12-page special on Ayrton Senna. The magazine, in print and tablet form, has undergone a major new face lift. The new additions include a monthly “Racing Lives” cartoon, a monthly photographic special, a new Formula 1 technical column along with an expanded events section.

The magazine, priced at £4.99, has had a successful year as newsstand sales remain strong. The publication bucked its declining market sector by 2.2% in 2012 and continues to thrive internationally, say the publishers.

“The new look for the print and tablet versions of Motor Sport reflects the wide range of content within the magazine’s all-encompassing remit,” says Motor Sport Editor, Damien Smith. “No other automotive title covers so much ground, from Formula 1 to grass roots motor sport, from road tests of the latest models to the world of motorcycling, and much more. We believe the new design retains our renowned reputation for authority, refinement and clarity, but with an added blend of modernity that a contemporary, forward-looking magazine must have.”

Motor Sport, established in 1924, prides itself on its past but retains its focus on the present and the future. As Smith explains; “Motor Sport will celebrate its 90th birthday next year and we are proud of the title’s rich heritage. The history of motoring and motor racing remains at the core of everything we do, but that doesn’t mean we live in the past. Motor Sport is more relevant than it has ever been.”

Motor Sport’s tablet edition now has a larger and improved type size and, as of the May 2013 issue, will be available on android as a fully interactive magazine.

“Beyond the new design, we will continue to expand our digital output and offer ever-greater value and breadth to our readers. These are exciting times for an independently-owned title that commands the respect and affection of car-lovers around the world,” says Smith.

Motor Sport celebrated its fourth annual Hall of Fame awards in February 2013 by inducting five more members into its prestigious ‘club’ at London’s Royal Opera House. According to the publishers, the event has become the season opener for the year and the 2013 awards will be reviewed in the May issue.
