Future Announces Major New Development of GamesRadar+

Future plc announced on Friday, the next stage in its development of its global entertainment website GamesRadar+, with the restructuring of two key channels - News and Reviews.

Since launch on 18th November, the site has seen incredible growth in just one month, says Future. Globally it has seen page views increase, month on month, by 60% to over 100 million and user numbers increase by 42% to 8 million. The UK market has seen similar patterns with a 90% growth in page views to over 13 million and a 64% increase in users to over one million.

With ‘Stage Two’ launching in late February 2015, the re-imagined GamesRadar+ News channel promises to take its users to the heart of the biggest news stories in video games with in depth analysis supported by original reporting and interviews. Consumers will experience an immersive user experience, with articles linked to previous posts on the same subject, game or focus area so that there is a real narrative thread of content.

The relaunch also sees the creation of two significant new UK based jobs - Executive Editor, News and News Lead.

According to the publishers, the new GamesRadar+ Reviews channel, which is set to relaunch at the same time, will give multiple reviews of the biggest games, from some of the most respected and revered journalists and brands of the genre. From Edge to GamesMaster, this multi-layered review system will give the consumer an invaluable and unique insight resulting in a fuller, more informed opinion.

Sophia Tong, Editor-in-Chief of GamesRadar+, says, “In GamesRadar+’s short life, we have already seen significant growth in users and our audience has responded extremely positively to the new Film and TV channels. Now it’s time to move on to the next step. Investing further in our news and reviews content is a key step in realising our ambition for GamesRadar+.”

The development of these two channels will result in over 50 of Future’s journalists from brands including Edge, Gamesmaster, Official Xbox and Official Playstation magazine producing content for GamesRadar+ from around the globe.

Declan Gough, Head of Content & Marketing, Future Games, Music, Film said “The new GamesRadar+ has seen huge audience growth and has exceeded all our engagement expectations. The results to date have been hugely encouraging as we move to the next stage of development. The new channels see us migrate the online audiences from Edge, Official Playstation, Total Xbox and CVG into GamesRadar+, creating an exceptionally powerful games offering and one that is totally unique. GamesRadar+ will showcase the exceptional talents of the 50+ Games, Film, TV and entertainment journalists we have at Future.”

GamesRadar+ was launched worldwide in mid November and signified the broadening of gaming site GamesRadar. Launching with three distinct channels - Movies, TV and Cool Stuff, TotalFilm.com and SFX.co.uk were migrated onto the site.

The Movie channel is powered by Total Film, with SFX powering the TV channel, whilst the Cool Stuff channel is a place for editors and readers alike to share relevant content from across the internet with like minded people in the GamesRadar+ community, says Future.
