Future launches The Impact Conference and Brand Impact Awards

Future has announced the launch of a new conference and award ceremony in the creative and design sector – The Impact Conference and Brand Impact Awards.

Taking place on Thursday 6th March at the London Film Museum, the inaugural event will take the theme of ‘collaboration’, focusing on the work between creative teams, illustrators, writers, photographers and the client, and will coincide with the very first Brand Impact Awards for branding and branded campaigns.

The conference will centre around FMCG, sports, retail and drinks, and will feature speakers such as James Somerville, Vice-President Global Design of The Coca Cola Company and James Hamilton, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer of AKQA.

The awards are to be held at the same venue in the evening and will be judged in the context of the market sector for which they were created, with judges looking for consistent quality of idea, design and execution. The judges will be chaired by independent design writer and consultant Lynda Relph-Knight.

The Impact Conference and Brand Impact Awards will be powered by Future’s brands – Computer Arts and Creative Bloq. Computer Arts, which celebrated its 200th issue last year, provides insight and analysis to the professional design community, while Creative Bloq is a design site.

Nick Carson, Editor of Computer Arts, says: "Branding has always been a really core topic for Computer Arts – it's the design industries bread-and-butter, and everyone from a freelance designer to a major global agency engages in it in some capacity. So it was the perfect subject area to explore in our first industry conference and awards scheme. As well as showcasing world-class work, Impact also celebrates the importance of close collaboration between designer and client, with client-side commissioners front-and-centre as both speakers and judges, setting everything in the kind of commercial context that's invaluable to our readers."

Declan Gough, Head of Creative & Design Group, says: “The creative and design sector is thriving and we believe there is a real opportunity to create a dynamic conference and awards which celebrates that. Future has a market-leading portfolio of creative and design brands, and the Impact Conference and Brand Impact Awards further reflect the innovation of the portfolio.”
