IPC Media achieves Carbon Trust Standard

IPC Media has achieved certification to the Carbon Trust Standard for cutting its absolute carbon footprint by nearly seven percent.

The Carbon Trust Standard certifies organisations for achieving carbon reduction and for committing to ongoing reductions.

IPC claims to be the first consumer magazine publisher to achieve the Standard, which was developed by the Carbon Trust in 2008 to encourage good practice in carbon measurement, management and reduction by businesses and public sector organisations.

IPC Media facilities director Jenny Noon (pictured) says: “This is a fantastic achievement and recognition of our sustained reduction in carbon emissions in the Blue Fin Building. Our ‘Green Fin’ and ‘We’re Better Off’ initiatives are really paying off. We are running our buildings more energy efficiently, and the fact that our staff are becoming more energy aware in the workplace is helping us to cut back on consumption too.”

Darran Messem, Managing Director, Certification, Carbon Trust, said: “We congratulate IPC Media on its achievement. Earning the Carbon Trust Standard requires strong commitment to making real change and is well within the reach of those with the desire to be part of a lower-carbon world. As a leader in the carbon certification market, it certifies organisations that have met rigorous criteria for measuring their carbon footprint, demonstrating they have well-implemented energy and carbon management systems in place and have reduced emissions year on year.”
