Julia Hutchison leaves CMA to join FMG

Julia Hutchison, COO of the CMA (formerly the APA) has announced that she will be leaving the association after nine years at its helm to take up a role as Head of Content Marketing at FMG.

During her time at CMA, Julia (pictured) has launched countless initiatives including the formation of the International Content Marketing Forum; the new business consultancy ASK; the new customer magazine promoting the industry Open; the CMA’s award winning conference, The International Content Summit; and scores of unique research projects such as the Advantage Study, the content marketing industry’s first benchmarking evaluation report. Additionally, she was recently the driving force behind APA’s rebrand to the CMA (Content Marketing Association), designed to position CMA’s members at the forefront of global content marketing.

From November Julia will become Head of Content at global marketing solutions consultancy, Group FMG.

Comments Mark Inskip, Managing Director, Group FMG Ltd: “We are delighted to welcome Julia to the team here at FMG. Julia guided what was the APA, now the Content Marketing Association, to become a trade association that has moved with the times – one that recognises that editorial content is now as much about video, mobile and online as it is about print. Julia’s wealth of experience is going to be a real asset and we very much look forward to welcoming her on board”.

Comments Patrick Fuller, CEO of CMA: “Julia has been an inspiration for our Industry and can be credited with the positioning and growth of the Content marketing sector. Most recently, our recent re-branding from APA to CMA was devised and executed by Julia to brilliant effect and the whole of our industry’s grateful thanks go with her. She has been instrumental in moving the industry from a pure print heritage to the multichannel content provider that it is renowned for today and in doing so has been responsible for making it a £1 billion industry. The opportunities afforded the Content marketing industry going forward by the trebling of membership during her tenure bear testimony to her fantastic influence and work. We all wish her every success in her new role.”

Adds Julia Hutchison: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at CMA and am incredibly proud of what the team and I have achieved. I am sad to be leaving, but following the rebrand I feel confident that the time is right for someone else to take the reins. Content marketing is a discipline that I feel extremely passionate about. This is why I’ve chosen a new role that enables me to stay in the industry. As Head of Content Marketing at Group FMG I am looking forward to continuing to drive the industry forward through a hands-on, client facing position with truly platform-agnostic content marketing solutions.”
